Advertising Sales Director
SUMMARY
The Advertising Sales Director produces revenues for Bay Nature Institute (BNI) through advertising sales while helping to build the community of organizations, agencies and businesses that support BNI’s educational mission. This is a commission-based position with benefits; a minimum work time of 20 hours a week is required, with increase in hours up to full-time both possible and desired (negotiable). BNI’s offices are located in Berkeley, CA.
COMPENSATION
Expected initial half-time annual income range is $25,000 – $35,000 ($50,000 – $70,000 FTE). Compensation is commission-based with a guaranteed monthly draw (negotiable). Given our track record over the past three years, and with the newly added opportunity of selling ads for our redesigned website, an excellent salesperson may achieve income beyond the above range, particularly if s/he is willing and able to work more than 20 hours/week and is interested in taking on additional sales opportunities at BNI. The position includes benefits (pro-rated based on employment status), including vacation time and health insurance.
JOB DESCRIPTION (min. 20 hours/week)
BNI seeks a highly motivated, outgoing, savvy individual to service our existing base of magazine advertisers and to prospect other nature-oriented and environmentally-aware businesses and organizations to advertise in the magazine and/or on the newly launched website. S/he should be able to clearly communicate the mission of Bay Nature to prospective advertisers. The Advertising Director also works with advertisers and our freelance graphic designers to produce ads that are effective and appropriate to our audience.

ABOUT BAY NATURE INSTITUTE
Bay Nature Institute (BNI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the people of the San Francisco Bay Area about, and celebrating the beauty of, the surrounding natural world. BNI publishes Bay Nature magazine, an award-winning full-color quarterly magazine that explores the natural world of the Bay Area, as well as our new content-rich website (launched in June 2008) at www.baynature.org. BNI also produces Bay Nature on the Air – short videos that air on public TV stations around Northern California, and organizes free naturalist-lead hikes related to magazine and online content.
