Why BAY NATURE?

Bay Nature is a unique organization whose reach has influenced Bay Area residents and policy makers for more than 12 years. The primary goal of Bay Nature is to promote awareness and sustainability of our extraordinary 12-county Northern California region.

A major component of our community is the suite of businesses, entrepreneurs, institutions, and organizations that advertise in Bay Nature magazine and BayNature.org.

Advertising in Bay Nature’s PRINT and ONLINE venues is an effective part of your media mix — it is outreach that communicates to a highly targeted audience of people who enjoy and utilize the diverse natural world of the greater Bay Area.

Our magazine readers and website visitors benefit from learning about a range of local businesses and service providers.  Retail, travel destinations, home improvement, landscape and design services; bookstores, museums, educational organizations; nonprofit sector services and family outdoor activities are just some of the  many eclectic companies and nonprofit institutions who support the Bay Area’s environment.

Advertisers in Bay Nature magazine and BayNature.org provide Bay Nature Institute with the financial support for maintaining our two high-quality venues that educate us about the natural world of the Bay Area.

Nowhere else can advertisers reach such a higher concentration of Bay Area readers who have a keen interest in the outdoors and preserving the environment than through BAY NATURE. Please join us!

Advertising with Bay Nature

BAY NATURE, a quarterly magazine with a readership of approximately 30,000, and a paid circulation of approximately 8,000, is available by subscription and through newsstands, bookstores and nature centers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

BAY NATURE is the only magazine dedicated to exploring the natural world of the San Francisco Bay Area. Arriving in full color each quarter, BAY NATURE inspires readers to venture out and directly experience nature; deepens their connection with the natural world; and strengthens their commitment to protecting local habitats and wild places.

Each issue brings provocative and informative nature writing as well as magnificent original art and photography—so our readers can see the world around them with new eyes.

BAY NATURE reaches a broad audience, from outdoor enthusiasts and committed environmentalists to backyard gardeners and armchair naturalists.  Our readers are active, educated, affluent, influential, inquisitive, and engaged in their communities.  They think globally and shop locally!  They are decision makers and influencers.

BayNature.org is the San Francisco Bay Area’s #1 website for finding and learning more about things to do outdoors.  Traffic to the site has increased steadily since 2008, and unique visits leaped by 10% per month since the start of 2012.  We are projected to reach over half a million in the next twelve months.

Our flagship print publication, Bay Nature Magazine, has become one of the region’s most respected niche publications.  Now in its 13th year, the award-winning Bay Nature is read by thousands of influential people dedicated to enjoying and protecting local parks, wildlife and nature.

Each issue of the quarterly magazine is archived on our website.

Bay Nature’s journalistic coverage of original topics, along with gorgeous photography from the Bay Area counties, provide an excellent venue for top tier advertising.  Businesses, entrepreneurs, travel and destination locations, publishers, membership-driven nonprofit organizations, and large public agencies reach a highly targeted and educated audience of active and engaged Bay Area residents, passionate about the extensive range of relevant subjects we cover.

In August 2012 Bay Nature launched Trailfinder, the interactive map-based trail and park finder.  The new feature, built in collaboration with Bay Area Open Space Council’s Transit and Trails, GreenInfo Network, and iNaturalist.org, brings together many of the finest tech resources to provide invaluable assistance in discovering our regional nature.

The new BayNature.org is a perfect vehicle to help your business reach a highly targeted, desirable audience.  Please review the detailed specifications for each of our ad levels.  Contact us for our affordable Print/Web Combo package.  We can provide free consultation services for your media mix.
