Bugs at the Randall Museum

What do grigs, mantids, lace-wings, and damselflies have in common? They’re all bugs, and now’s your chance to learn more about all of them. San Francisco’s Randall Museum is featuring a free, interactive exhibit entitled “Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!” through mid-September. Mini-entomologists can explore a myriad of insect-inspired scenes and activities while observing a working wasp colony, live monarchs, and swallowtail butterflies. Another way to pick up some information about bugs is to visit your local bookstore and look for the new field guide Bugs of Northern California, published by Lone Pine Publishing (www.lonepinepublishing.com. Author John Acorn has written an entertaining text that brings each bug’s character to life, while Ian Sheldon’s detailed illustrations will help you become a visual expert on bugs.
