Phil Frank Exhibit at San Francisco Public Library

Protecting the Bay Area’s natural heritage is serious business, but it’s a good idea to keep it all in perspective and look at local environmental issues with a sense of humor. Nobody does that better than Phil Frank, creator of the “Farley” cartoon strip that appears in the San Francisco Chronicle (and Bay Nature; see page 31). On Saturday, April 20 (1:00-2:30 p.m.), the Stegner Environmental Center of the San Francisco Public Library is presenting “Farley: Eco-Warrior,” a free talk and demonstration by Frank at the Main Library (Larkin and Grove). This talk is the first in the “Wild San Francisco” series, which continues with two programs on “The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill”: a slide show and reading by Telegraph Hill resident Mark Bittner on May 11 and a sneak preview of Judy Irving’s documentary film-in-progress on June 8.
