152 pages, $14.50

This little book, which describes 54 promising spots for bird-watching in Santa Clara County, is a great tool that is unique in conception and quite useful both in the field and at home. The knowledge assembled in this volume—cooperatively written by local Audubon members—represents a treasure trove of local experience and lore. Included is a detailed map for each site; a description of the area, its habitats, and the birds to be found there; and discussion of where to look for partic-ular birds. A county bird checklist is also included.
