SUMMARY:28th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day 
DESCRIPTION:Since the California Coastal Commission first organized Coastal Cleanup Day back in 1985\, over 800\,000 Californians have removed more than 16 million pounds of trash and debris from our state’s beaches\, shorelines\, and waterways.          September 15 is your next opportunity to be part of our country’s premier volunteer event focused on the marine environment and its watersheds. Thanks to a host of nonprofit organizations working in collaboration with the California Coastal Commission\, you’ll find a variety of projects throughout the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Areas where you can lend a hand\, picking up trash and recyclables.          From north to south\, REI is supporting projects at Sonoma Coast State Park at Bodega Dunes (REI Santa Rosa)\, on the Mill Valley Bike Path near the intersection of Shoreline Highway and Pohono Street in Mill Valley (REI Corte Madera)\,at India Basin Shoreline Park in San Francisco (REI San Francisco)\, at Albany Bulb Shoreline (REI Berkeley)\, at Shimada Friendship Park in Richmond (REI Berkeley)\,along shoreline near the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center(REI Fremont)\,at Francis State Beach in Half Moon Bay (REI San Carlos)\, and along sections of the Watsonville Slough System (REI Marina).          No prior experience is necessary.
