Breathtaking views await you as you ascend with docents Bob Segalla and Greg Azevedo on the less traveled Waterwheel Creek and Montebello Trails. This moderately-paced, 4-mile, 400-foot elevation change is suitable for capable children. you’ll learn the history of the Preserve and the Open Space District, as well as information about some of the plants, animals, and geologic features of the area. There will not be a lunch stop, but a short snack break is planned midway. (Note: Participants will carpool to the trailhead.) Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after November 1.
Meet at the Picchetti Ranch Preserve parking lot. From the intersection of I-280 and Foothill Expressway, go 3.5 miles southwest (toward the mountains) on Foothill Boulevard/Stevens Canyon Road. Turn right on Montebello Road. The preserve is 0.5 miles up Montebello Rd. on the left. Participants will carpool to the trailhead for this activity.
