Join Friends of Five Creeks removing invasive, fire-prone French broom from El Cerrito’s Hillside Natural Area, 100 acres of urban wild with amazing grasslands and oak groves. Wrench out whole bushes with big orange levers — very empowering! Dry weather has added urgency to this work.
Tools, gloves, and snacks provided. Wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toed shoes with good traction. Because of steep slopes and poison oak, this is not an event for young children.
Meet at the first, southern, fire road entrance on Regency Court in El Cerrito. To get there, from Contra Costa north of Moeser, turn downhill, west, on Kent and then right, north, on Regency Court. The chained fire road is just past the turn. If you come late, walk down the fire road until you see us.
