Forget “Over the Hill!” Instead, come to the hills and stop by the Marin Headlands Visitor Center on October 27 for the 40th birthday bash of your Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Hear from park founders, including the heroes who helped quash the Marincello development that would have blanketed much of the Headlands in houses and apartments. Enjoy birthday cake and browse historic artifacts and exhibits that show how the landscape – and its users – have evolved. And take the whole family on a self-guided treasure hunt that will take you along scenic trail and introduce you to some of the parks’ fascinating natural and cultural history.
