SUMMARY:Celebrating Raptors with the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory
DESCRIPTION:Every year thousands of raptors move down the pacific coast as they head to wintering sites as far away as South America. A large percentage of these birds pass through the Marin Headlands where they are annually documented by the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory (GGRO). We’ll start the day with a walk in Rodeo Valley learning to identify these birds and discussing their life histories\, then we’ll head up to Hawk Hill for more raptor viewing and to meet GGRO Director Allen Fish who will discuss the work of this amazing volunteer-based organization. This walk is free of charge\, no registration is necessary. This walk is for adults. We request that no animals (except service animals) attend. Shannon Burke will lead. Questions: Contact Shannon at (415) 893-9520 or SBurke@marincounty.org. Meet at the east end of Rodeo Lagoon. From Hwy 101\, take the Alexander Ave exit and follow the signs to the Headlands. Follow Bunker Rd (through the tunnel) and continue west down the valley. The meeting place is next to the end of the first building you encounter just after Bunker Rd crosses the bridge.
