Introduce children to the fascinating world of birds and citizen science at a fun, family-friendly event.
Families are invited to the Botanical Garden for its first annual Christmas Bird Count4Kids, Saturday January 12, 8am–12:30pm. Experienced birders will lead teams of kids and adults on different routes through the Garden for this annual bird count.
Binocular boot camp and birding basics kick off the event at 8:30am. Then, after an easy 90-minute observation walk, groups will gather for a brown bag lunch at the San Francisco County Fair Building to tally and share results, and learn the importance of citizen science monitoring for bird conservation.
