Christopher Columbus sailed to the Americas in 1492 and the effects of two worlds colliding are still felt today. Hike to Horseshoe Lake and back with docents Ed Lange and Ellen Dupuy on this 5-mile, moderately-paced outing. Along the way, you’ll see if you can observe some of these effects first hand. Enjoy your lunch next to the lake and discuss some of the more subtle economic ramifications of the “Columbian Exchange”.
This Skyline Ridge Preserve activity will meet at the Russian Ridge Preserve parking lot located on the northwest corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection (across Skyline Blvd. on the right). Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 40 minutes travel time.
