This is gathering two of six in the year-long mountain spirit training. Each gathering is open to all, provided there is space. For more info see the PDF or Word doc on the “Earth-honoring Ritual” section: www.ancestralmedicine.org.
Crowning the hills east of San Jose, Mt Hamilton is the highest peak in the S.F. Bay Area (4,360 ft.) and the site of 2011 California Condor visits. The land is rugged, often exposed, and hotter than many parts of the Bay. Late April is beautiful on the mountain as wildflowers are speaking, grasses retain some of their green, and the dryness of summer has yet to fully arrive. This mountain elder is also a great support for the practice of questing, of remembering and aligning with bone and soul-level purpose.
For this day of ritual, we’ll gather just after sunrise and begin with a light purification lodge. This will be followed by at least six solo hours on the mountain for prayer, reflection, and personal visioning. We’ll finish by re-entering lodge and complete our day together with a healthy shared meal. Participants are welcome but not asked to fast throughout the day.
Questing, even for one day, can be physically rigorous so it’s important to be in dialogue before our day of ceremony. We’ll still gather outside in light rain and in the event of major storms, redirect to a day of indoor mountain ritual. Suggested contribution is $125, spaces are limited, and preregistration is required. Be in contact directly for details or to register.
