Adults may adopt a Bay checkerspot caterpillar and place it in its new home within the butterfly habitat at Edgewood. Minors accompanied by adults may adopt a caterpillar for the scientists to place on their behalf. This is a rare opportunity for you to play a role in preserving a species from extinction.

Directions to Clarkia Trailhead
From I-280, take the Edgewood Rd exit, turn west toward the mountains and continue until the road tees at Canada Rd. Turn left onto Canada and look for the trailhead shortly after passing under I-280.
From Hwy 101, take the Whipple Ave exit and turn west toward the mountains. Continue on Whipple about 1.5 miles to the light at Alameda de las Pulgas, and turn right. Then turn left at the light onto Edgewood Rd. Continue on Edgewood about 3 miles until the road tees at Canada Rd. Turn left onto Canada and look for the trailhead shortly after passing under I-280.
