SUMMARY:Differences Between East and West
DESCRIPTION:This 7-mile hike is fairly evenly divided between locations on the east and west side of Skyline Boulevard. You'll hike in parts of Monte Bello\, Skyline Ridge\, Russian Ridge\, and Coal Creek Preserves. Your excursion will take you on the White Oak\, Skid Road\, Ipiwa\, Bay Area Ridge\, Clouds Rest\, and Meadow Trails. Docents Bill and Marilyn Bauriedel will point out some of the differences between these special east/west eco-regions. Rainfall\, sunshine\, temperature\, elevation\, geology\, and farming and logging practices of the early- to mid-20th century all contribute to what grows and thrives in these four different preserves. Meet at the Monte Bello Preserve parking lot located on Page Mill Road (across from Los Trancos Preserve)\, 7 miles west of I-280 or 1.5 miles east of Skyline Boulevard. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time. Events subject to change. Please always check the MROSD page for this event before you go.
