DESCRIPTION:Want to know more about Sudden Oak Death (SOD) in your community?    Want to learn how you can help combat the spread of SOD and keep the oaks in your yard healthy?    Come hear Dr. Matteo Garbelotto\, UCCE Specialist in Forest Pathology and Mycology\, UC Berkeley\, present the results of the "SOD Blitz" of 2012.  The meeting will last about one hour and will include:  1) the results of the SOD Blitz testing in our local East Bay communities\, 2)The latest information and recommendations for SOD management.  3) Treatment options and strategies for your area.  You will also learn about the SODMAP\, the most comprehensive map of SOD in North America showing the spread of the Sudden Oak Death pathogen. Learn what you can do to slow down the spread of SOD in your area by attending a SUDDEN OAK DEATH FIELD TREATMENT WORKSHOP.  Following the East Bay Results Meeting\, on October 5 and 6 Dr. Garbelotto will be hosting 2-hour field treatment sessions at various locations in the East Bay\, including Garber Park\, Knowland Park\, Tilden\, and the Lafayette/Orinda Community Center.  Dr. Garbelotto will cover the latest methods aimed at the prevention and spread of SOD\, when and how to treat trees\, as well as fire issues.  Dr. Garbelotto will address the factors needed in order for treatments to be effective and demonstrate application techniques.
