In the fall of 2011, world class multi-sport endurance athlete Terri Schneider led a team of four on a unique trekking and mountain biking journey across the magical and inaccessible country of Bhutan. In a quest to discover ‘What Matters’ to the people whose king has declared ‘Gross National Happiness’ to be the country’s benchmark for success, these intrepid explorers made a documentary film of their first-of-its-kind adventure, a cultural inquiry which will be completed in 2013 (www.whybhutan.com). Join Terri for slides and stories of this rare and remarkable 42-day expedition, as it unfolded from conception to adventure. Terri will also share her experiences living in Bhutan for part of 2012, volunteering with the Bhutan Olympic Committee. If you register for this free presentation at www.rei.com/berkeley, we will hold a seat for you until the scheduled start time.
