A Santa Clara County Park Interpreter will lead us on a four–mile, round–trip hike. Learn about the mining history that helped to shape the landscape of historic Almaden Quicksilver County Park. This park is a National Historic District because of its ruins from more than 130 years of mining. We start at the Woods Road entrance and walk gradually uphill (300-foot elevation change), visiting the rotary furnace that produced more than a million flasks of mercury. We leisurely hike down to the ruins at English Camp, where we will enjoy a social lunch, and an optional tour around the ruins, before heading back. Picnic lunch is included.
