The wind poppy has been reported on only 10% of the parks and preserves in the Bay Area. You’ll seek this lovely flower, and observe many other late bloomers, on this moderately-paced, 4- to 5-mile hike with docents Dennis Smith, Lynn Jackson, Bill Korbholz, and Laura Levin.

Meet at the Picchetti Ranch Preserve parking lot. From the intersection of I-280 and Foothill Expressway, go 3.5 miles southwest (toward the mountains) on Foothill Boulevard/Stevens Canyon Road. Turn right on Montebello Road. The preserve is 0.5 miles up Montebello Rd. on the left.
