Celebrate the end of the holiday season and welcome in the New Year with Explorer Hike docents Dennis Smith, Lynn Jackson, Bill Korbholz, and Laura Levin. You’ll scan Horseshoe Lake for migrating birds and enjoy broad vistas of ridges to the west and the ocean on a moderately-paced, 4- to 5-mile loop along the Ipiwa, Sunny Jim, and Butano View Trails, stopping briefly along the way to discover plants and animals of interest in the winter landscape.
Meet at the Skyline Ridge Preserve parking lot on Skyline Boulevard located one mile south of the Page Mill/Alpine Road and Skyline Blvd. intersection. After entering the preserve, turn right and go to the farthest parking lot. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 45 minutes travel time.
