Explore the lower reaches of this Preserve with docents Mary Bernstein and John Wertzler on a 6-mile, moderately-paced hike. Starting at the far end of the Achistaca Trail, you’ll ramble the Nutmeg, Red Mountain, and Skyline-to-the Sea Trail to an unnamed trail section at the southwestern end of the Preserve. you’ll cross to Sempervirens Point for a grand perspective before hiking back up the mountain. A mostly shady hike on a potentially hot Indian summer day – what could be better?

For this activity at Long Ridge Preserve, meet at the Caltrans vista point on the southeast corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Highway 9 intersection.
