What do you notice when you hike in the rainy season? If you are unaware of the myriad forms and colors of fungi around you, join docents Chris MacIntosh and Paul Billig on a hike through several habitats where you may see red, yellow, white, or black fungi. The hike route will take you on a 7-mile loop that includes traveling down the Whittemore Gulch Trail and 1,500 feet back up the Harkins Gulch Trail.
Meet at the main preserve parking lot (Whittemore Gulch entrance, also known as the North Ridge lot) located on Skyline Boulevard next to the now closed Kings Mountain Country Store. The parking lot is 4.5 miles south of Highway 92, or 8.1 miles north of Highway 84.
