SUMMARY:Free Talk on Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Bay Area
DESCRIPTION:This event is part of "Reclaim\, Rebuild\, Reskill: a Series on Growing Your Resiliency". Join us before the Lorin Station crop swap for a talk with herbalist Tellur Fenner. He'll give us an overview of the diverse array of both edible and medicinal plants found growing within our Bay Area micro-climates. Historical and modern medicinal applications will be touched upon\, along with any edible and/or utilitarian potential. Tips on basic plant identification will be offered\, with an emphasis on how to differentiate poisonous look-alike plants from their beneficial counterparts. Plant family characteristics will be discussed as well. Bring medicinal herbs you are growing to share and discuss. The Lorin Station Crop Swap provides a fun opportunity to exchange fruits and vegetables from your garden with fellow community members\, a chance to participate in the growing food movement and a way to connect with other local gardeners. The crop swap happens from 1-2pm and the Herbal Talk is from 12noon -1pm. Location: Lorin Station Greenspace\, Alcatraz and Adeline\, Berkeley. Info: 510-548-2220 x233\, beck@ecologycenter.org. Wheelchair Accessible
LOCATION:3320 Adeline St, Berkeley, CA, 94703, United States
