The California grizzly bear has been extinct for almost a hundred years and yet remains a symbol for the state. Join docents Ed Lange and Ellen Dupuy to walk where this mighty creature once walked to explore facts and folklore of the grizzly. you’ll enjoy beautiful views from Long Ridge and Peters Creek Trails on this moderately-paced 4- to 5-mile hike. For this activity at Long Ridge Open Space Preserve, meet at the Grizzly Flat trailhead on the west side of Skyline Boulevard 3.6 miles north of Highway 9, or 3.3 miles south of Page Mill Road. If you are traveling from the north on Skyline Blvd., the pullout is just past Portola Heights Road on the right. From the south, the pullout is near the Palo Alto city limits sign on the right.
