Join docents Ellen Dupuy and John Wertzler on this 4th annual hike featuring a description and discussion of Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck’s 1939 Pulitzer Prize winning novel. Steinbeck was born February 27, 1902, in Salinas, CA, and his descriptions of California, the people’s lives, and the environment is timeless. This is an easy-going hike for those that like “walk and talks.” Hopefully, you’ll have time to read the novel before the hike, or come along and learn about it during this 5-mile round trip outing between Horseshoe Lake and Alpine Pond.
Meet at the Skyline Ridge Preserve parking lot on Skyline Boulevard located one mile south of the Page Mill/Alpine Road and Skyline Blvd. intersection. After entering the preserve, turn right and go to the farthest parking lot. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 45 minutes travel time.
