The top of Mindego Hill is the destination of a combination bike/hike adventure led by docents Strether Smith, Dave Kocsis, and Earl Girbovan. You’ll ride a variety of trails to reach the base of Mindego Hill, where you’ll swap your bike shoes for sneakers (or hiking shoes) to make the hike up the hill and enjoy spectacular views. This will be a 7-mile ride and a 1-mile hike requiring intermediate riding and hiking skills. Experienced youth cyclists are welcome. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after August 9. Intermediate Mountain Bike Ride: Intended for participants with dirt single-track riding experience; able to climb and descend steep and moderately-rough trails. Recreational ride at a moderate/brisk pace, 8+ miles on a wide range of fire roads and single-track trails. For experienced riders in very good physical condition with good endurance.
Meet at the Caltrans vista point opposite Russian Ridge Preserve gate RR-01. The parking area is located on Skyline Boulevard, 1.2 miles north of Page Mill Road and 6 miles south of Highway 84. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time.
