SUMMARY:San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory Bird Walk: SCIENCE IN THE HAND
DESCRIPTION:HOW BIRD BANDING MAKES AVIAN CONSERVATION POSSIBLE Led by Jill Demers & Josh Scullen $75 Join Executive Director Jill Demers and Biologist Josh Scullen for an in-depth tour of the Coyote Creek Field Station\, SFBBO's year-round bird banding station. Josh Scullen\, our CCFS Manager\, will demonstrate how birds are banded and measured\, and lead you through the mist nets to view bird extractions. At the same time\, Jill Demers will provide details about our current research projects\, connecting the process of collecting data to the final results. This 4-hour demonstration is a great opportunity to see several species of residents and fall migrants in the hand\, and to learn why our research is important for protecting birds and their habitats. The California Fall Challenge is the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory's biggest fundraising event. Join a guided trip to get outside and support bird conservation.
