SUMMARY:San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory Bird Walk: WANDERING VAGRANTS
DESCRIPTION:Led by Scott Terrill. This birding day is what fall birding is all about! During migration\, birds can deviate from their normal migratory routes ("vagrants"). In California\, most vagrants are birds that typically occur in eastern North America\, but a few Asian vagrants show up now and then as well. To maximize the probability of encountering vagrants\, the location for this trip will be determined by Scott one or two days prior to the actual day of the field trip and will be dependent on where vagrants are being reported. Scott will contact the trip participants at that time and let them know where to meet. Scott is a specialist in avian ecology\, having written over 30 scientific papers\, primarily on bird migration. Scott has served as a member of the California Bird Records Committee\, Regional Editor for North American Birds\, the Board President of SFBBO and Coyote Creek Riparian Station\, Science Advisor to SFBBO\, and is the primary author of the Audubon Society Master Guide to Birding. Take advantage of this opportunity to bird with a migration pro! $100 per person - Limit 12 people The California Fall Challenge is the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory's biggest fundraising event. Join a guided trip to get outside and support bird conservation.
