Join us for this unique, small-group stargazing experience at the Laguna Environmental Center with local astronomers and experienced star guides Linda Sinkay and Jim Goodenough of Wine Country Star Party. This wonder-filled evening for adults includes a reception with beer, wine, and delectable treats; a fascinating astronomy presentation; and fun-filled observation of the night sky’s spectacular beauty. Watch the sunset unfold over the Laguna and observe the resident barn owls and other crepuscular critters become active at dusk. Observe planets, stars, constellations, galaxies, star clusters, and nebula with powerful 10 and 12 inch reflector telescopes. Cozy up to the fire-pit with a cup of cocoa to share questions, stories, and awe at the mystery and beauty of the amazing universe.

Advanced registration required: www.lagunafoundation.org

Cost: $75 ($65 Laguna Foundation members). Ages 18 and up, maximum 20 participants.

Proceeds benefit the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation’s education programs.

The Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation works to preserve, restore, and increase public appreciation and enjoyment of the Laguna de Santa Rosa, the largest tributary of the Russian River and Sonoma County’s richest wildlife area. The Foundation’s programs restore and enhance wildlife habitat, provide classroom and field trip learning experiences for school children, conduct scientific research, and create opportunities for the public to learn about and experience the Laguna’s wonders. We work collaboratively with landowners, public agencies and partner organizations to improve the Laguna’s ability to support wildlife, improve water quality, provide flood protection and enhance our quality of life with outdoor recreation opportunities. Our new site has wonderfully dark night skies.
