SUMMARY:The San Andreas Fault
DESCRIPTION:Hear the remarkable story of how California emerged from the sea during America's 200 million year westward voyage\, how the fault was formed\, and how thousands of subsequent earthquakes shaped the landscape that you'll traverse. Docent Keith Johnsgård will lead this leisurely 2.5-mile geomorphology field trip that includes many stops to discuss the terrain. (Note: This activity is intended for participants 18 years or older and is not suitable for younger children.) Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after October 25. Meet at the Los Trancos Preserve parking lot on Page Mill Road (across from Monte Bello Preserve)\, 7 miles west of I-280 or 1.5 miles east of Skyline Boulevard. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time. Preregistration is required. Find out more at the MROSD page for this event.
