The Willow Creek Watershed Education Program offers 6th through 8thgrade students a hands-on learning experience about healthy stream habitats, the life cycles of Coho and Chinook Salmon and Steelhead Trout, and why thesethreatened fish need our help. Docents in this program participate in apre-trip classroom visit and lead a field trip on the Sonoma Coast at PomoCanyon Campground in the Willow Creek Watershed with other docents.  Training manuals, seminars and mentoring withexperienced docents are provided.

The Willow Creekwatershed drains an area of approximately 8.7 square miles, nearly all of whichis owned and managed by State Parks as part of Sonoma Coast State Park. Thelower Willow Creek valley within the park contains significant, undevelopedwetland and riparian habitats. The upper watershed is primarily forested land, with intermixed grasslands.
