Wild in the Wilderness: Environmental Education & Natural History Intensive

This course is the prerequisite for reserving the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center for a 3- to 5-day residential program. Located in the heart of Point Reyes National Seashore, the Center is an 80-bed sustainably managed residential facility founded to support programs that promote environmental and natural history study, and ecological literacy.

Designed for teachers, program coordinators, youth leaders, homeschoolers and community facilitators, course participants will enjoy 20 hours of intensive natural history & environmental education training led by a team of dynamic naturalists and educators who employ hands-on, field-based learning experiences that engage and stimulate learners. Topics include: Animal tracking, beginning birding, herpetology, identifying native plants & learning their stories & uses, planning a night hike, leading a campfire, storytelling, environmental education tips, techniques & tools.

Learn how to create a unique program that enables your class or group to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the natural world, while strengthening their connection to each other.

The program is compatible with the California State Science Framework. Teachers may earn 1 unit of academic credit through Sonoma State University for an additional fee. To register please call 415-663-1200 x 306
