Join Bay Nature for an 8 to 9 mile hike along beautiful Fifield-Cahill Ridge above the Crystal Springs watershed. This hike is on property owned and managed by the San Francisco Public Utility Commission and is not open to individual hikers. We will walk out and back on fire road (part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail) through old-growth Douglas fir and mixed softwood forest for the first 3.5 miles, then emerge out onto coastal scrub and serpentine grassland. We will return on the same road. Expect some limited elevation gain. We will be accompanied by a naturalist from the SFPUC and/or a trained volunteer hike leader.

Because this area is not open to the general public, hikers MUST stay with the group at all times. We will meet at the Skyline Quarry at 9:30 a.m. and carpool from there to the Cemetery Gate. Because we will be going through a locked gate, you must be there to meet the group on time; we cannot make arrangements for late arrivals or early departures.

Advance reservations are required, and the number of spaces is limited.
Reserve by writing to hikes@baynature.org or calling (510)528-8550. Please provide us with your email and a phone number. We will send you driving directions and a permit that you must bring with you the day of the hike.

This hike is not ADA compliant, but is potentially accessible to those in trail-ready wheelchairs. Please check with Bay Nature in advance.
