Celebrate the 20 years of the Bay Area Ridge Trail with a 5-day hike from Castro Valley to Martinez. This first-time through-hike will be held in conjunction with the annual East Bay Hills Trails Benefit Horseback Ride, which has raised over $85,000 in five years. Hikers will cover 45 miles of the Ridge Trail with about 15 additional miles nearby, and opportunities for as many extra miles as you care to handle! Your hike is fully supported, with meals and campsites included.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided for all. We will move your tents, sleeping bags and other gear to each new camp. Swimming and showers will be available very close to our Tilden and Sequoia Arena campsites. Evening programs will include a visit to the Chabot Space and Science Observatory (a 5 minute walk from Sequoia Arena), a classical harp concert, a slide show on long distance trail adventures, a drill team performance, and other surprises.
