Invasive Plant Removal Workday

Friday, September 19, 2008
10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Join Sonoma Land Trust and The Bay Institute for an invasive plant removal project at a seasonal wetland restoration project near the intersection of Lakeville Hwy and Hwy 37, September 19th, from 10am – 2pm.   Dittrichia graveolens, a rapidly spreading invasive plant, is threatening to take over the North Parcel Seasonal Wetland project - a site designed to provide resting and sheltering habitat for migrating shore birds.  Dittrichia graveolens is a huge problem in tidal restoration areas and adjacent upland habitat, where it creates dense stands that displace native vegetation and valuable shorebird habitat.  We need your help pulling this weed before it flowers and releases seeds.  The plant comes up easily and there are no thorns or thistles!
