Naturalist, environmental educator and artist John (Jack) Muir Laws spent six summers backpacking the Sierra-researching and illustrating "The Laws Field Guide to the Sierra Nevada." Produced in collaboration with the California Academy of Sciences, this pocket-sized field guide contains 2,710 original watercolor paintings of more than 1,700 species in the Sierra. Join Jack for a slide lecture on his adventures making this comprehensive work. As he shares some of his observations about the fascinating behavior, adaptations and interactions between species, he'll show you his lightweight field-studio design and techniques for painting in the field.
