"Lions and us" hike and informational session
Saturday, June 21, 2008
11:00 AM
to
2:30 PM
Join docents Keith Johnsgard and Jennny Whitman for one of the most beautiful natural history hikes on Skyline Ridge Preserve. This three-mile circle route involves an elevation gain of 275 feet each way. During an hour-long lunch break (the midway point) Johnsgard will document fatal and non-fatal lion attacks on humans in order to illustrate how even a little knowledge and preparation can reduce the risk of a serious lion encounter. Some parents may not wish to expose their younger children to detailed accounts of lion attacks and should use discretion.
Bring a lunch and drinks.
Meet at the Skyline Ridge Preserve parking lot on Skyline Boulevard located one mile south of the Page Mill/Alpine Road and Skyline Blvd. intersection. After entering the preserve, turn right and go to the farthest parking lot. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 40 minutes travel time.
