to Saturday, August 09, 2008 7:00 PM

Festival celebrating natural and cultural history of Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve

Arc Ecology will host the August 8 & 9, 2008 Mare Faire featuring guided outings about the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve’s historic, natural and scenic features, including stargazing; exhibits; a display of "found" munitions; slide presentations and an art show. The highlights will be honoring the 150th anniversary of the oldest naval cemetery in the Pacific, and the 64th anniversary of Port Chicago Mutiny. Live music in background, good food and even a Friday evening potluck and barbecue promise to make this year’s Mare Faire an exciting opportunity to visit until it becomes a permanent regional park of state and national importance.
