Rainwater harvesting and "blue" landscaping
Thursday, July 31, 2008
7:00 PM
to
9:00 PM
Join the Water Institute for an evening discussing ways to harvest rainwater for garden irrigation and reduce your "blue footprint."
Have you been thinking about harvesting rainwater for irrigating your garden, or even simply reducing your "blue footprint" and using H20 more sustainably? Then join us for an enlightening evening investigating ways we all can reduce our use of watershed water.
Through this presentation we will highlight way in which to integrate raingardens, swales, rainbarrels, cisterns, ponds and other simple designs into the landscapes of our homes, gardens and neighborhoods. With the impending drought, these techniques can also help us reduce our pressure on municipal water supplies, reduce our carbon footprint, reduce our impact on streams and rivers that are home to endangered salmon in Marin County, and honor water as the precious resource that it truly is.
Two *NEW* local initiatives led by SPAWN and Sustainable Fairfax to help our communities design, fund and build rainwater harvesting projects will also be highlighted.
