Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse Protection Work Party
Saturday, October 18, 2008
9:00 AM
to
12:00 PM
Help keep Salty away from construction site by pulling its pickleweed shelter.
Construction on the Environmental Volunteers' EcoCenter in the former Sea Scout base has begun! The site is being prepared, and the building will be moved in a couple of weeks.
We need help pulling pickleweed plants from the construction site. The endangered salt marsh harvest mouse (AKA 'Salty') likes to take shelter in the pickleweed. By removing it from the construction site, it will help Salty stay safely away. (Not to worry, when construction is done, we will plant more pickleweed to make Salty happy beyond belief!)
Located at the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve (at the end of Embarcadero Road), across from the duck pond.
We need 10-15 volunteers. Under the guidance of our biological monitor, we will pull plants from about 1700 sq. ft. around the site.Event Type(s): volunteer
