Spring Restoration Projects at the Martin Luther King Jr. Shoreline Park
Saturday, June 07, 2008
7:00 AM
to
10:00 AM
Volunteer and learn about your local plant community members like gumplant, jaumea and salt grass as you help Save the Bay propagate native plants.
The abundance of winter rain has allowed our native plants to grow…unfortunately, the weeds are growing too! Help Save The Bay remove non-native vegetation to improve the health of our recently planted native seedlings like California bee plant, blue-eyed grass and sticky monkey flower. Other activities include shoreline cleanup, collecting seeds, making plant cuttings and work in our on-site native plant nursery. This urban area includes some of the last remaining wetland habitat in the East Bay and is home to many species, including the endangered California clapper rail and burrowing owls. This program is part of Save The Bay’s ongoing wetland restoration projects with our site partner East Bay Regional Park District.
