An event to celebrate salmon season and raise awareness of dangers to this fish.

The Berkeley Farmers' Markets' and the Ecology Center's Summer
Solstice Salmon Celebration with the intertwined themes of celebrating
the peak of the solar year and our local salmon, and highlighting the
salmon’s endangered plight.

Accessibility: Convenient public transportation (1 block from downtown
"Berkeley" BART), nearby lot & street parking, wheelchair
access.

Music: All Nations Singers (Pow Wow style drum band)
Captain Mike & the Sea Kings (fishermen playing the blues)
Wild Buds (West Coast Mardi Gras music)

Speakers:
-Ron Reed, Karuk Tribe of California cultural biologist
-Juliet Lamont, environmental consultant (Creekcats Environmental Partners), activist, PhD in environmental planning, former Chair of the Sierra Club's San Francisco Bay Chapter Executive Committee, and former interim Chair for the Berkeley-based Urban Creeks Council.
-Mike Hudson, commercial fisherman; Board of Directors member, Small -Boat Commercial Salmon Fishermen's Association; organizer, Salmon Aid
-Rafael Jesús González, poet, Professor Emeritus of Creative Writing & Literature, founder of Laney College's Mexican and Latin American Studies Dept.
