Golden Gate Park's Oak Woodlands Restoration

Help restore habitat at Golden Gate Park's oak woodlands, home to some of the city's oldest oaks!

While most of Golden Gate Park has been landscaped with lawn, flower beds, and other ornamental plantings, a few remnants of San Francisco's oak woodlands still exist in this world-renowned park. The northeast corner of Golden Gate Park is home to some of the oldest coast live oak trees in San Francisco. The chief management challenges in this area include coping with the dominant understory weeds--English ivy, cape ivy, blackberry, and ehrharta grass.

Wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and layers. Tools and refreshments will be provided. Kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and should bring their own gear.

Note: This event repeats every second Saturday of each month, 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. It's best to check with the organizer to make sure any particular workday is going ahead as planned.
