Lake Merced Restoration
Saturday, September 04, 2010
1:00 PM
to
3:30 PM
Help restore habitat with the native plant restoration effort at San Francisco's Lake Merced, an important stop on the Pacific Flyway.
Lake Merced, a freshwater lake in the southwest corner of San Francisco, is a major water, recreational, and natural resource for the City and County of San Francisco and the surrounding area. It is also an important stop for migratory birds on the Pacific Flyway. Volunteers have removed iceplant from the mesa area of Lake Merced and planted many natives. Current restoration focuses on removing other invasive plant species and replacing them with natives.
Wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and layers. Tools and refreshments will be provided. Kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and should bring their own gear.
Note: This event repeats every first Saturday of each month, 1-3:30 p.m. It's best to check with the organizer to make sure any particular workday is going ahead as planned.
