Tucked just off California’s central coast between Moss Landing and Monterey, Elkhorn Slough is an amazingly rich ecological treasure. In the fall and winter Elkhorn Slough is host to over 340 species of birds, providing vital habitat for hundreds of species of plants and animals.
Easy to navigate channels winding through 7 miles of scenic Slough, make kayaks the perfect viewing platform for observing this natural splendor.
Take in the stunning show with Kayak Connection’s Bird Watching Tour. Tour participants witness birds in many of the Slough's different habitats; including the main channel, tidal creeks, grasslands, and oak woodlands. This tour is four hours long and takes place at low tide for the best viewing scenario. No previous experience is necessary—all kayak gear provided.
