1256 acre Park managed by: California Department of Parks and Recreation

The Ano Nuevo Reserve hosts North America’s largest colony of elephant seals. Some are here year-round, but winter is the time to see thousands of giant seals in one place.

Winter brings lively battles between males for mates, and spring and summer is molting season.

During the breeding season, December 15 through March 31, daily access to the Reserve is available only via guided walks. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for walks.
