Purchased by the Muir Heritage Land Trust in 2005, the historic 702-acre Fernandez Ranch is protected open space providing habitat for a variety of native wildlife. The park offers three picnic areas, a horse-friendly staging area, and 3.5 miles of multi-use trails, including sections accessible to people with disabilities and a new segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Enjoy several different trail options through oak woodland and bay forest as well as beautiful views. Hikers and equestrians with a permit can continue on the Bay Area Ridge Trail into the East Bay Municipal Utility District’s Pinole Valley Watershed.
