639 acre Park managed by: Marin County Open Space District
This popular preserve is great for year-round hiking, but it delights spring visitors when nearly any trail leads to a waterfall.
There are a variety of trails and roads in this preserve that offer loop hikes, mostly through shaded forests of live oak and bay trees. Small ponds are home to western toads, tree frogs, newts, and an assortment of insects. The popular Waterfall Trail is a pleasant hike that explores north-facing slopes near Indian Valley College and offers oak-bay woods and spring wildflowers. If you’re looking for a fun, unique family outing in Marin, consider the Indian Valley Carriage which takes you for a ride, by horse, down Indian Valley Road and up the fire road in the preserve.
