Lake Solano Park sits on the shores of a reservoir on Putah Creek, at the base of the hills southwest of Winters. the park has a campground and offers opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, and picnicking. You can rent paddle boats, canoes, and sit-atop kayaks, and the lake is a good spot for birding and wildlife photography.

Pipevines were in full bloom the first week of March 2013, and I saw one pipevine butterfly. I hope to see more later.
