This preserve offers an opportunity to explore the southern foothills of Mt. Diablo. The preserve is comprised of two discontinuous sections divided by development and Camino Tassajara Road east of Danville. The southern section, called the Sherburne Hills Unit is almost entirely grassland, and the northern section, Short Ridge Unit, is mostly grassland and oak savanna. Both sections have multi-use trails. Note there is no water available in the park.
